17 February 2026Hampshire County Council has launched an online consultation on proposed improvements to bus stops and pedestrian crossings along Chestnut Avenue, Eastleigh, near Barton Peveril College.
The survey opened at noon yesterday and will close on Sunday 22 February 2026 at 11:59pm.
The proposed scheme aims to make it easier and safer for students to travel by bus, on foot, or by bike. The proposals include:
β’ Building four new bus stop areas on the opposite side of the road to the college, helping to prevent buses from blocking traffic
β’ Widening the footpath near the college entrance to improve safety and accessibility
β’ Adding a zebra crossing with a cycle crossing to make crossing the road safer
β’ Planting trees and shrubs to improve the look and feel of the area
