Eastleigh Town Council is set to tackle chewing gum stains and gum litter across the town centre thanks to funding from the UK’s #ChewingGumTaskForce.

The grant will support work to remove existing chewing gum stains and litter from public areas, helping to improve the appearance of the Town centre for residents, businesses and visitors.

The #ChewingGumTaskForce was established to tackle chewing gum litter across the UK. Funded by the chewing gum industry, The Task Force provides grants to councils to remove gum litter and introduce tried and tested behaviour changing signage to help prevent future littering.

Work in Eastleigh Town centre is due to get underway next week. Alongside removing existing gum stains, the project will use signage to encourage people to dispose of chewing gum responsibly and help prevent further littering.
